*Jack was born in 5094 on the Boeshane Peninsula, under an unknown name. He lived with his parents and brother Gray.
*During on an attack on his home, he lost his brother Gray who went missing, and his father was killed, leaving him with only his distraught mother.
*He signed up to be a Time Agent and was recognized as "The Face of Boe", the pride of Boeshane.
*He worked as a Time Agent, partnered with John Hart. He once spent five years in a two week time loop with him.
*When he found out the Agency erased some of his memories, he left instead to become a con artist, using his knowledge of the future. He enjoyed charging money for things that were about to be destroyed.
*At a stop in time in 1941, he assumed the name Jack Harkness, named after a Captain who died in the war.
*He encounters Rose and the Doctor during one of his schemes, a scheme that caused a nanogene virus to spread. The Doctor stopped the nanogene virus, and the bomb that was meant to fall at the time was taken into space by Jack with a Chula spaceship he had. The Doctor rescued him, in the nick of time with the TARDIS, naming him a companion.
*He traveled with the Doctor and Rose, including to Cardiff to refuel the TARDIS, and Satelite 5 where he was on a makeover show, broadcast nude across the universe, but the shows tended to end in the contestants death, so upon escaping he found the TARDIS and discovered the killed contestants were actually being sent to the Daleks. He and the Doctor embarked on a mission to save Rose, who'd been sent there.
*Jack helped form a resistance group on Satelite 5 and kissed Rose and the Doctor goodbye, figuring the Daleks would defeat him in the end. He was the last one fighting, but he too succumbed to the powers of the Daleks. Rose, who was in Bad Wolf form, resurrected him and made him immortal. Jack was left behind on Satelite 5.
*Jack escaped to Cardiff with his vortex manipulator, but overshot the 21st century, ending up instead in 1869. He was stranded until the Doctor could arrive, so he lived, waiting for the Doctor. He discovered he was immortal, could heal from anything given a few minutes, and he was still aging, very slowly.
*In 1899 he was discovered by Torchwood, tortured to test his immortality and released on condition that he help them. He did a mission and walked away, but after finding out it was going to be over 100 years for the Doctor to arrive, he returned to Torchwood to work for them.
*Jack left Torchwood to fight in World War I, but returned to Torchwood after that.
*During the 1990s, he visited the Powell Estate several times to see Rose growing up, but did not approach her.
*On New Years Eve 1999, a colleague Alex Hopkins suffered a mental break down and killed the entire Torchwood Three team, leaving only Jack alive because he could not die.
*He established Flat Holm Island sometime after this incident because of some people taken from the rift and returned, two of which were in the Torchwood vaults.
*He recruited Suzie Costello, Toshiko Sato, and Owen Harper between 2000 and 2007.
*In 2006, he assisted in eliminating aliens invading on Christmas Eve and picked up an artifact - the Tenth Doctor's hand, which he kept in a jar in Torchwood.
*In the Battle of Canary Wharf, Torchwood One was eliminated, leaving the balance of Torchwood's power in Torchwood Three - or Jack's - hands. A little later that year (2007) he took in Ianto Jones, an agent for Torchwood One who survived.
*When Suzie Costello killed herself, leaving a vacancy on the team, Jack recruited Gwen Cooper.
*During an investigation in 2008, Jack and Tosh are transported back to 1941 where he meets the man who's name he assumed.
*In the same year, the rift opened and he confronted Abbadon. He defeated him when the creature was attempting to leach his life, but as a result he stayed dead for days. Gwen gave him a kiss and he was resurrected, however the Doctor's hand was glowing and the noise of the TARDIS had him disappearing from Torchwood as he sought out the Doctor for help.
*Jack jumped onto the ship, thanks to the hand, and was transported to the year 100,000,000,000,000. The Doctor tells him that Rose survived the battle at Canary Wharf, to his relief. They helped Professor Yana repair a spaceship, and when a watch was opened The Master was reawakened. The Master stole the TARDIS leaving Jack, the Doctor and Martha stranded at the end of the universe.
*Jack used his vortex manipulator to get the three of them back to 2008. The Master was prime minister of the UK, and he was named an enemy. He was captured, along with the Doctor, but he gave his vortex manipulator to Martha to secure her escape. He remained in captivity and tortured for the duration of one year, until Martha could return. Jack destroyed the paradox machine, resetting the entire year for those not in the room at the time.
*Although the Doctor offered him a space on the TARDIS, he declined to rejoin his team at Torchwood.
*Not long after his return, an old friend from the Time Agency - Captain John Hart appeared, searching for a canister. This canister actually contained a bomb, and with the help of Owen mixing the DNA of the members of Torchwood, Jack injected it in him to release him from certain death. He told John to leave, John complied but his parting words implied he'd found Jack's brother - Gray.
*After Martha had parted ways with the Doctor, and was working for UNIT, Jack invited her on the team to assist in an investigation. This investigation led to Owen's death, and Jack used the second resurrection glove to bring Owen back, unwilling to lose another member. Not entirely successful, Owen was in a state where he was already dead but moving around as though he were alive, something Jack regretted causing. He gave Owen a break to acclimate to the new state of affairs, keeping Martha on to bridge the gap.
*After Owen's return, the team was investigating a building with four bombs intended to destroy the team. This was unsuccessful but it was perpetrated by John Hart, who had returned again. Jack confronted him alone and was killed and tortured before the man set off bombs all around Cardiff. He dragged Jack back to 27 AD where he met Gray who wanted vengeance for the torment he endured from when he was captured as a child, because Jack let go of his hand.
*Jack was buried alive under where Cardiff would be, stuck in a cycle of death and
regeneration. In 1901 Torchwood found him thanks to a ring that was buried with him. Because he was crossing his own timeline, he insisted on being cryogenically frozen for 107 years, until the same date he was sent back in time.
*He reawoke in time to stop Gray and cryogenically freeze him, forgiving him for what he did, but came back too late. Owen died at the nuclear site for good, and Toshiko had been shot and died in Jack's arms, leaving him with only Ianto and Gwen.
Character Personality:
Jack enjoys portraying himself as enigmatic - a total mysterious stranger. He rarely shares information about himself, leaving it more to the imagination of the people around him. He tells tidbits from time to time that no one can be sure of their validity.
He's flirtatious, and the other person's gender or species is irrelevant. As observed by the Doctor, he has a fluid vision of what sexuality is. Despite being a playboy, he's demonstrated a few times that he can settle into lasting relationships, no matter how difficult that is for him considering he doesn't age at nearly the rate of a normal human.
He enjoys going out for a drink, picking up others and sex.
Jack is protective of those closest to him. He's over protective of his team, believing to know what's best for them and he grieves the losses like anyone else would. The idea of losing others is unappealing, and he would do all he could to prevent that, but at the same time he carries on. Jack was the one that told Gwen and Ianto they needed to press forward. He does not find this easy, but necessary.
He presents himself as friendly and outgoing with a great sense of humour. He can, however, make the tough decisions that others might not be able to. He has a ruthless side. Threats to his team, to Torchwood itself must be subdued and if not, eliminated. Despite that, he shows compassion when he can and rehabilitates creatures if that is at all possible, such as the case with the pterodactyl that took up residence in Torchwood itself.
When Jack feels guilt for an event, such as the loss of Gray, he banishes the memories. Losing Gray was the worst day of his life. He would rather forget than live with the guilt at times, or perhaps it was a side effect of living so long. At times he feels like he's lived too long, others he isn't sure he wants to die. He is the type of person to prefer leaving the past in the past.
Jack can be reckless, more reckless than others as he has little concern as to the possibility of his death. If he dies, he comes back to life. There is little risk, so he may take actions that make little sense to others, for the greater good. He believes in saving the most amount of people possible, despite sacrifices, as evidenced when he traded children for a vaccine, and gave up his grandson to save a tenth of the children on the planet.
Powers and Abilities:
Jack has evolved pheromones that make him nice smelling to others, thanks to being born in the 51st century.
Jack cannot die. If he suffers a fatal wound, he will die temporarily and come back to life with a gasp of air. He can heal all wounds, serious and minor given a small amount of time. He may have some awareness before he's fully awake, while he's immobile. Healing smaller wounds takes more time than larger ones.
He can regenerate his body even if exploded into pieces, as he has done that before. Jack has already died thousands of times.
He's physically strong, and in excellent condition. He has quick reflexes and can dodge things someone less experienced might not be able to. He has the speed to keep him with many different life forms. He has working knowledge of firearms and combat. Beyond basic military knowledge, he's an excellent leader. He knows how to speak to people to motivate them, despite the worst challenges. He's intelligent enough to analyze difficult situations and come up with solutions.

Third Person:
The silence was broken by the sound of footfalls. One step, then the other. Each step bringing Jack Harkness closer to the unknown, a possible adventure, even more then that, a possible good time. He walked at a leisurely pace, hands settled into the pockets of his long military-style duster, a smile pulling at his lips.
It was a wonderful day to be alive, and why wouldn't it be? The sun was shining, a gentle breeze passing through the area helped him feel reinvigorated. It was enough to make him take in a slow, deep breath.
All around him was the evidence of the resilience of humanity, the way this place was in sense rebuilding a community that the inhabitants had lost. He could understand those feelings, a gentle tug at the heart that reminded him he wasn't quite at home, any of his homes really, but he also knew it wouldn't be that bad.
It was an adventure. The unknown. Everything he'd set out for and staked his entire life upon, the moment he joined the Time Agency. It was an escape.
Jack couldn't deny there were things he missed. His team wasn't around, and that was a shame considering how small they'd become. Ianto...
Thinking of Ianto would dampen his mood, so he didn't. He pushed the thought away, burying it deep down in the recesses of his heart where his heartbreak lived and didn't bother him. As long as he didn't let it. He couldn't reach those he cared about, and as much as that hurt, he had to move on.
After all, Jack Harkness was still alive.
